IRS and NPO the Safety Engineering Laboratory have started the Introductory Certificate Course for Safety Engineers of Service Robot in 2007. And as the next stage, we had starded the Intermediate Course in 2008.

The presentation of this program won the outstanding performance award in SI2008.

　"The Ministry of the Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology: The Special Project for Earthquake Disaster Mitigation in Urban Areas" has been carried out by IRS and many robotics researchers from 2002 to 2007. This project aims to develop and actualize the robot technology for the disaster response, especially big earthquake. After the project, IRS will undertake a role to introduce the leading-edge technology to the disaster response.
