What is "Kisoi Motohiro Award"
This award is named in honor of Motohiro Kisoi who was studying intelligent manipulation at Kobe University and died at the age of 23 in the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. It honors young researchers 40 years old and under for outstanding contributions to development of rescue system and aims to encourage research activities.
This project starts on 17th January 2005, the 10th anniversary of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. The selection committee selects the award winner and the award ceremony is held annually.

Report of the 4th Kisoi Motohiro Award Presenting Ceremony

We, International Rescue System Institute held the 4th Kisoi Motohiro Award Presenting Ceremony on 15 January 2009 in Kobe.

The winner of the academic achievement is Dr. Atsushi Yamashita who is an associate professor of Shizuoka Univesity, and the winner of the technical achievement is Dr. Tomoharu Doi who is an associate professor of Osaka Prefectural College of Technology.
Dr. Yamashita won the award for his efforts, "To Clear Up the Vision of the Rescue Robots and Systems by the Image Processing ". And Dr. Doi won the award for his efforts, "Application of the Rescue Robotics for the Termite Control Robot".

Two winners were given the commendation certificate, extra prize \300,000, and memorial trophy given by the members of the selection committee. The trophies were produced by the glass artists, Art Glass Club who have sympathy for this award.

Both winners received generous applause from attendance with celebration and expectation.
