MEXT: SPECIAL PROJECT FOR EARTHQUAKE DISASTER MITIGATION IN URBAN AREAS Apr. 2002-Mar.2007 This project aims at significant mitigation the earthquake disaster damage on the scale of the Great Hanshin Earthquake, in big city regions such as Tokyo metropolitan area and Keihanshin area. And it also aims to establish a basis of science and technologies for earthquake disaster-prevention measures. IRS is taking a core role in the "Development of Advanced Robots and Information Systems for Disaster Responce" of this project. NEDO: Project for Strategic Development of Advanced Robotics Elemental Technologies Apr. 2006-Mar. 2011 This project has been launched by New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) which promotes development of advanced robot system and elemental technology.IRS carries out research and development on the Work in Special Environment:(3) RT System to Travel Within Disaster-Affected Buildings. METI: Emerging Regional Consortium for Research and Development Apr. 2006 - Mar. 2008 This development project for regional technology by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) aims to carry out advenced research and develoment for practical use under the regional consortium. IRS Kobe laboratory manages "Ubiquitous System for Disaster Prevention and Security by RT Applied Meshed Network Sensors (Kansai Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry)" in this project.
FDMA: Technology for Fire-Fighting and Disaster-Prevention Research Advanced System Apr. 2006- Mar. 2009 To create the safe and secure society, Fire and Disaster Management Agency (FDMA) promotes this research adveanced system. IRS carries out two themes of research and develoment: "Development for Method of Fast-Track Searching and Locating the Survivors Under the Wreckage" and "Development for Advanced Hydrauliclly or Pneumatically Driven Tools for Search".
